It's been ages

Was thinking the other day... we signed the building contract in January, here we are in May, and we don't have a start date. On the weekend, I drafted up an email, with my perspective on things. I never remember things taking this long last time we built. Halfway through May and we've witnessed a friends house go up. We've also found a construction happening locally, which began demolition only 2 days before ours. Look at their progress. Our friend is building with Plantation Homes, and the local build is building with Clarendon. Both builders that we had approached when negotiating on builders. This is starting to get out of hand. Weeks of thinking and being confident that our building is on top of things. To find out we didn't even have building approval yet. What the???

Because nothing has happened since the site cut, I thought I would show you how things are going on other sites

Dude... where’s my house

So for the last two weeks, my demolition guy has been promising me that they will get around to demolishing the house. After repeated emails the last one said they will be onsite this Wednesday. So for the last week I’ve been driving around to the house before work and after work just for that slim chance they have come. So today I drove there after work. I couldn’t get there this morning because I had a course to go to. So not expecting much, I usually grab a glimpse of the roof of the house as I drive around the corner of the street. But today was a bit different, I took a peek upon approach, but I couldn’t see it, I wasn’t sure if I missed it, but as I drove up to the street, to my surprise there was an excavator on the property and no sign of the house at all. All I could see was the remnants the concrete foundation and the drive way.

More plants/trees and pavers

Over the weekend we saw humid weather on Friday afternoon and Saturday. The rain was holding off, even though it was forecast for both Friday and Saturday, it would have been good because the plants were becoming droopy. I had to duck off to Bunnings to buy a hose to water the plants. Then the much needed heavy rain on came on Sunday. Which affected the landscaping work on Monday. The landscaper installed pavers, finished the gravel path, planted a few trees, and prepared the ground for turf that is due to arrive tomorrow. 4 Days Paint to front of wall Stair/handrail polish final coats?? Landscaping done

Today the ground was wet, but the landscapers got the job done before lunch time. I also noticed the house had a big tidy up and looks nice and shiny. The countdown is on, and the handover inspection has been booked. 3 Days Paint to front of wall Stair/handrail polish final coats??
